BIS/System (Bar Code Information System) consists of four layeredbuilding block programming modules that use direct connections betweenUNIX systems and industry-leading INTERMEC bar code devices.With BIS/One, the foundation product, programmers can interact with barcode devices in CIRL, a full-featured, easy-to-use C language applicationprogramming interface (API). This avoids the added complexity ofprogramming in INTERMEC Reader Language (IRL).BIS/NET is a more robust, networked version of BIS/One. With BIS/Netusers can access bar code readers and printers throughout the network.BIS/SNMP is an add-on product that offers Simple Network ManagementProtocol (SNMP) proxy agents, allowing bar code devices to be monitoredand controlled by any network management package using SNMP standards.BIS/X application is based on the industry standard X Windows environmentto provide graphical depiction of device status throughout the network.
